INDIANAPOLIS — Here we go again.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Jonathan Taylor suffered a thumb injury in Week 12 “that is requiring further evaluation and puts his status in doubt going forward.”
The Colts didn’t provide any indication that Taylor emerged from the Week 12 contest with an injury after he played 40 snaps and carried 15 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Tampa Bay.
Despite gutting it out in Week 12, his Week 13 status appears to be in jeopardy.
We don’t know if his status being “in doubt” carries more weight beyond Week 13, but it sounds like this is an injury that could result in a multi-week absence.
An update will likely come within the next day or two.
Taylor was sidelined for the first four games of the 2023 season while on the physically unable to perform list recovering from an ankle injury.
The 24-year-old agreed to a three-year, $42 million extension with the Colts ahead of a Week 5 matchup against the Tennessee Titans, ending a contract dispute that had been ongoing since the summer.
Zack Moss who was among the league leaders in rushing yards before Taylor returned would take over as the lead back yet again.
