(Florham Park, NJ) – Aaron Rodgers is within the 21-day practice window as he attempts to make an in-season comeback from a torn Achilles tendon.

At the same time, drama continues to unfold surrounding the QB position for the Jets – after last week’s starter Tim Boyle was released. Head coach Robert Saleh hasn’t indicated who the starter will be this coming weekend. A report from The Athletic suggested Zach Wilson – who was the third stringer last weekend but has been the starter most of the season – wasn’t willing to return to the starting lineup. Saleh has since suggested that’s not true and said Wilson showed up in office asking for the ball.

So what does Rogers say about the team and the QB situation? He specifically responded to The Athletics’ report: “I love Zach (Wilson). I will say this when you have sources…whether intentional or unintentional like that report, I have a really hard time with that.”

Throughout the preseason reports suggested Rogers and Wilson had developed a good rapport. Rogers elaborated further on his feelings toward Wilson: “I don’t want to speak for him. I love the kid. I think he’s an amazing young man… whoever that person is that thinks it’s ok to talk to anyone like that, I don’t understand how you got anything out of that.”

And thus continues the drama, while digging further into questions surrounding The Athletic’s reporting. Was it fueled by an off-the-record comment from Wilson?

Time will tell if it’s Wilson or Trevor Siemian under center this weekend when the Jets take their fading playoff hopes into a contest with the Houston Texans.
