(New York, NY) – So far, Cody Bellinger’s MLB career has included stints in two of America’s great cities.
First, he won a World Series as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Then, after faltering during the end of his time in Hollywood, Bellinger soared during a single season in the Windy City. Now – could he be headed to the great, white, north?

Bellinger is one of the market’s most sought-after position player free agents, after batting .307 with 26 HR and 97 RBI last year. He previously won both Rookie of the Year and NL MVP while with LA. And he’s still an accomplished defender in the outfield, having been named a Gold Glove winner in 2019. Bellinger played 84 games in CF last year, increasing his attractiveness on the open market. So what is driving the expectation Bellinger could potentially end up in Canada?

As MLB free agency continues, Bellinger’s fiancée, model Chase Carter, may have given us a clue. She posted a story to Instagram on Sunday that included the Toronto skyline. And it’s clear the Blue Jays are willing to spend big in free agency – given they just very publicly missed out on Shohei Ohtani, after he settled on returning the LA – with Bellinger’s old club the Dodgers.
So, it’s entirely possible that Bellinger ends up being a nice consolation prize for Toronto, and one who can slot into the middle of the lineup – while handling one of the club’s outfield spots.
