NEW YORK — Dalvin Cook’s short tenure with the Jets is coming to an end, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media.
The Jets will release the four-time pro bowler giving him a chance to sign with a contender before the playoffs.
New York signed the 28-year-old back in mid-August to a one-year $5.8 million guaranteed contract. According to multiple reports, Cook will forfeit his remaining guaranteed money in order to facilitate the move.
Cook found himself on the outs looking in all season, finishing with a mere 67 carries for 214 yards.
That’s a big drop from the four straight 1,000-yard seasons that Cook posted with the Vikings before hitting the open market last offseason
The running back Cook will hit the open and market, looking for a new home to revive his career.
