NEW YORK — The Yankees are nearing a deal with a familiar foe.

MLB Network’s Jon Morosi believes the Bombers are the favorites to sign starting pitcher Marcus Stroman.

Originally, it was reported the Yankees had no interest in signing Stroman – but with their options dwindling, it appears they have had a change of heart.

It’d be a return to New York and the AL East for Stroman, who pitched for the Mets and Blue Jays before spending the last two years with the Cubs.

The right-hander made 27 appearances for the Chicago Cubs in 2023, earning his second career All-Star appearance along the way. He was one of the NL’s best pitchers for three months last year before an awful July and a six-week absence due to a rib cartilage fracture ruined his second half.

Stroman, a native New Yorker, has criticized the Yankees on numerous occasions, after GM Brian Cashman said he did not envision him being part of the club’s postseason rotation following the 2019 trade deadline.

But as we know money and quality pitching solve a lot problems.
