BALTIMORE — He’s back.

Mark Andrews has been designated from return from injured reserve, opening his 21-day window to be moved to the 53-man roster. Andrews returned to Ravens practice Friday, one week before Baltimore’s playoff opener.

It comes eight weeks after he suffered fibula and ankle injuries on Nov. 16 against the Bengals.

Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews (89) fights a tackle from Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson (55) in the first quarter of the NFL Week 11 game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023.

When Andrews first suffered the injury, Head Coach John Harbaugh said he had an “outside chance” of returning later this season. The Ravens kept the door open and it appear one of their top offensive players should be ready to go when the Ravens play next week in the Divisional Round.

“Mark is so darn tough. You say a guy eats, sleeps and breathes football; that’s Mark Andrews,” Harbaugh said back in December. “So, he’s going to do everything he can to get back down the road.”

Despite missing the final seven regular-season games, Andrews still leads the team with six receiving touchdowns. He has the second-most receptions (45) and third-most receiving yards (544).

Andrews was hurt on the Ravens’ first offensive series against the Bengals. From that moment on, Baltimore won six straight games and Andrews’ replacement, Isaiah Likely, has become a major playmaker in Baltimore’s offense.

His return would be a major boon for a Baltimore offense that has trended toward the pass over the past month.
