INDIANOPLIS — Colts owner Jim Irsay is no stranger to being in the news.
But this time, it’s a life-threatening issue.
Irsay, 64, was found unresponsive and struggling to breathe during a suspected overdose this past December, according to TMZ. Police reported the incident to be an “overdose/poisoning”. Cops were called to Irsay’s home around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 8, after he was found unconscious on his bathroom floor with blue skin.
Irsay was in his bed by the time the police arrived, but had breathing issues, a weak pulse, and constricted pupils. Police administered a dose of Narcan, an anti-overdose-drug, which “he responded slightly” to.
Now, roughly a month after the incident has taken place, the Indianapolis Colts released a statement:
“While this unfortunately means he won’t be able to perform with his band this week in Los Angeles, he is receiving excellent care and looks forward to returning to the stage as soon as possible,” the Colts’ statement said earlier this month. “We’ll have no additional information at this time and we ask that you respect the privacy of Jim and his family as he recovers.”
Irsay has often spoked publicly regarding his battle with addiction – and shared that he’s been to rehab “at least 15 times.”
Expect the Colts’ owner to put football on the back burner and start concentrating on what’s important – his well being.
