NEW YORK — The Yankees are adding much needed depth to their bullpen.

The Bombers have acquired LHP Caleb Ferguson from the Dodgers, according to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman. In exchange, New York is sending lefty Matt Gage and RHP Christian Zazueta to Los Angeles. Gage was recently claimed by the Yankees off waivers from the Astros, spending majority of the 2023 season with Triple-A Sugar Land.

The teams have not confirmed the move.

Ferguson is coming off a rocky season with the Dodgers, pitching to a 3.43 ERA and 1.42 WHIP across 68 appearances. But he’s not far removed from success. In 2022 after returning from Tommy John surgery, the 27-year-old finished with a microscopic 1.82 ERA.

He is in his final season of club control and joins former teammate Victor Gonzalez as the two primary lefties in the Yankees bullpen replacing former southpaw Wandy Peralta, who recently signed with the San Diego Padres
