NEW YORKS — When it rains it pours. At least for the New York Knicks.
If the Knicks’ injury woes weren’t concerning enough, it got worse last night in the fourth quarter of New York’s 123-113 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies at Madison Square Garden.
The latest culprit? Jalen Brunson.
The Knicks All-Star point guard went down in pain suffering an apparent ankle injury while driving to the hoop against Memphis’ Gregory Jackson.
Head coach Tom Thibodeau did not provide an update following the game, but early reports are indicated the team is not very concerned.
After the game, SNY Knicks insider Begley reported the belief is Brunson avoided a severe ankle injury and that he left the rocker room with no limp. He did not have crutches, and there was nothing on his ankle.
“Playing with him for so long, and knowing him, I said ‘are you good?’ and he said ‘I’m good,‘” Donte DiVincenzo said. “I don’t worry about Jalen at all.”
Prior to the injury, the 26-year-old was leading the way again for the shorthanded Knicks with 27 points, three rebounds, and eight assists across 31 minutes of action.
For now? It seems like the Knicks dodged another bullet.
