MIAMI — Their is a new favorite in the Odell Beckham Jr. free agency sweepstakes.
And it’s the Miami Dolphins.
Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson reports the Dolphins are interested in signing the veteran pass catcher. Jackson writes the two parties met on Thursday and that it “went well.” The Dolphins “hopes to sign him.”
As Jackson points out, whether or not the two sides can agree to a deal will likely depend on Beckham’s asking price. Given the limited role he’d be expected to play, it’s hard to imagine OBJ having a high asking price.
Beckham caught just 35 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns last season for the Ravens.
While he’d make for an interesting addition, it can’t be overlooked that the Dolphins ran the third-fewest pass plays in 11-personnel.
Beckham made an official farewell to the Ravens, in a post on his Instagram page earlier in the week.
“Swea on everything, I appreciate the Flock more than all could EVER imagine,” Beckham wrote. “Did everything I could with the opportunities I had. Wish I got to do it big for yall. Thank you for the Vibez! To the City of Baltimore, I (expletive) with yall forever FRRRR. And most importantly, to my brothers over there, this (expletive) a lifetime sentence: I love you all! Biggest Truzzz.”
