NFL: Divisional Round-Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos
(Southwest Ranches, FL) – Reports say former NFL CB Vontae Davis is dead after being found at a home in Florida.
Cops discovered a man’s body at a home in Southwest Ranches, and University of Illinois assistant men’s basketball coach Chester Frazier has said on X that Davis passed away.
Apparently, police don’t believe any foul play was involved. Property records show that Adaline Davis, the former football player’s grandmother, owns the home.
Drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2009, Davis also played with the Indianapolis Colts and Buffalo Bills. He notably retired mid-game during the Bills’ first game of the season in 2018, letting coaches know at halftime that he was done.
Colts owner Jim Irsay mourned Davis’ death on Monday, sharing an emotional message on X.
“Extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Vontae Davis. A great guy, teammate, player. My prayers to Vontae’s family,” Irsay wrote.
