BUFFALO — Stefon Diggs always seems to be in the middle of the drama. But it seems like the writing was on the wall for Diggs exit out of Buffalo months before Wednesday’s trade to Houston.

On this week’s episode of the “Tim Graham and Friends” podcast, The Athletic’s Tim Graham detailed the Bills’ overtime loss to the Jets in Week 1 of the 2023 season, revealing how Diggs and Josh Allen’s had a heated postgame exchange.

“Josh Allen was sitting there in full uniform with [backup quarterback] Kyle Allen, trying to console him, and a steam of players coming up, patting him on the back, dapping him up… They were trying to pick the guy up, he had a towel draped over his head and he just sat there,” Graham recalled.

Graham noted how Diggs approached Allen after the game, but isn’t sure what the four-time Pro Bowler said.

“But Josh Allen snapped at him, and he said, ‘It’s one f–king game,’ and kind of motioned I’m not talking to you here, and Diggs walked away and Josh sat there,” Graham recalled. “… Whatever Stefon Diggs said to him, Josh Allen wasn’t having it.”

After a scorching hot start to the season, Diggs’ production dipped in the latter half, when Joe Brady took over for Ken Dorsey as offensive coordinator. Graham questioned if the Bills offense “was trying to prove to Diggs that they don’t need him.”

The disgruntled WR ended up finishing out the year with 107 receptions, 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns – his worst statistical season in Buffalo.

The end of Diggs time in Buffalo was met with questions about his happiness, which began at the end of the 2022 season and continued into 2023.

As for the Bills? There was one clear takeaway from the 2023 season —which included an offensive coordinator change, countless injuries, a 9/11 controversy, and, somehow, a division title— and it was that Josh Allen needed more help.

There off to a bad start.
