(Florham Park, NJ) – The Jets defense was their usual dominant self in a joint practice with the Giants, so dominant that Sauce Gardner had trouble finding any praise for Daniel Jones.
In his media availability Gardner spoke on Jones and the Giants’ offense. “He’s a good quarterback, you feel me? I thought I was about to pick him off…He had looked at the last minute to try and throw a check down to Wan’Dale [Robinson]. I thought I had the pick but he kept it.”
Cue a long pause as Gardner then searched for the words to say anything else positive about Jones.
Sauce apparently “got a lil distracted with something mid interview” as he posted on X after.
Amidst his pause it seemed like he was looking for the words in the room with him, and after seeing a Jets’ media person, simply said, “It was very competitive. I had fun out there. I don’t even know what to say.”
Gardner ended the practice by blowing kisses to Jets fans and waving goodbye to the Giants players as they exited.
The two teams will face off on Saturday in their shared home stadium. Perhaps Jones will give the All-Pro cornerback something to talk about then.
