NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Carson Wentz (finger) is facing a 4-6 week recovery after fracturing his finger in Thursday’s win over the Bears.
Wentz seems all but likely to land on the injured reserve, but for now is meeting in Los Angeles with a hand specialist to find the full severity of the injury. The 29-year old suffered a fractured ring finger in last week’s win but was able to play through the injury and finish the game.
Taylor Heinicke will start in Week 7 against the Packers. It’s not necessarily a downgrade for any of the Washington pass catchers. While the counting stats aren’t horrible, Wentz has predictably been a mess in first year under center for the Commanders. He ranks 29th amongst QB’s in passer rating.
