It was reported Tuesday morning from Denver Bronco’s Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett that Russell Wilson has a hamstring injury. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that Wilson  is getting an MRI on what could be a “fairly significant injury.”

Wilson was dealing with a dinged-up shoulder entering Monday’s game and now the injury bug has spread to his hamstring. Wilson ran more than usual against the Chargers, scrambling four times for 23 yards. After a solid first half, Wilson predictably reverted back to his miserable play in the second half. He finished with a mere 188 yards and one touchdown as the Broncos fell to 2-4 on the season.

If Wilson is forced to miss extended time, Denver’s backup is Brett Rypien. It will be difficult for the Broncos offense to be worse, but don’t fear, anything is possible with Nathaniel Hackett calling the shot. Denver will probably morph into even more of a ground-and-pound team with some sort of Latavius Murray, Mike Boone and Melvin Gordon committee.

Wilson had never missed an NFL start prior to last season, but the injuries are now starting to pile up for the 33-year old. Shutting him down for a bit might be best for the team in the short-term.
