Los Angeles Rams Running Back Kyren Williams
The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue expects Rams fifth-round rookie RB Kyren Williams to have a “big role” once he returns.
William has been on the I.R. for the entirety of the season (ankle) and the Rams have yet to open the rookies 21-day practice window after he underwent surgery before the season. Over the summer, it appeared Williams was slated for a bigger-than-expected role on offense, possibly even jumping ahead of Cam Akers in the pecking order, but then subsequently got hurt. With Akers tenure now apparently finished in Los Angeles, there’s a spot for Williams alongside Darrell Henderson.
Henderson and second-string RB Malcolm Brown compiled 19 carries for a whopping 57 yards (3.05 YPC) against the league’s laughing stock Carolina Panthers.
Given how weak the Rams’ depth chart is, Williams is a priority add — he has a clear path to taking earning snaps and possibly even taking over the No. 1 job without an injury.
