We are now a quarter of the way through the 2022 NFL season and Bills’ superstar quarterback, Josh Allen, is on absolute fire. Allen has his Bills sitting at 5-1 heading into their bye week and has posted some insane stats. Whilst the shine of MVP talk will always be on guys like Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson, nobody has been more valuable than the dual threat gunslinger, Josh Allen.

Unfortunately, there is no way to measure the MVP frontrunners during the season except through betting lines. Josh Allen is the current favorite, with Jalen Hurts second, and Mahomes third. Not only does Allen have the stats to back it up thus far, but he also has the signature MVP moments. Unreal throws we’ve gotten accustomed to seeing Allen make, and even hurdling defenders have been aplenty thus far. Not to mention, he’s been clutch with two come from behind victories, with two game winning drives against the AFC’s 2nd and 3rd seeds. This season Allen has now defeated the AFC’s second, third and fourth seeds, along with last season’s Super Bowl Champions. The type of plays Allen makes are in the realm of unbelievable and very few, if any at all, can do what the 6’5” signal caller can do.

The stats are mind blowing this far into the season. Allen’s Bills lead the league with 2,645 total yards; followed by the Eagles with 2,367, the Browns with 2,310, and the Chiefs and Saints are tied in fourth with 2,294. In sixth place it’s not a team, it’s Josh Allen. Allen has 2,237 total yards which ranks sixth in the entire league as just one player. Including the Bills as a team, Allen has more total yards than 27 out of 32 NFL teams. Continuing with the trend of leading the league, Allen leads all passers with 1,980 passing yards. The next closest is Matt Ryan, with 1,765 yards. Allen is tied with Mahomes for the most passing touchdowns with 17, and he leads the league in total touchdowns with 19. With 19 total touchdowns this season, Allen currently has more touchdowns by himself than all but three teams in the league, and his Bills are one of these three teams.

In now back-to-back weeks, Allen has been named AFC offensive player of the week with two huge performances. In those two games he has a combined 753 passing yards, 7 passing touchdowns and 74 rushing yards. He ranks second in the NFL with 8.28 yards per pass attempt and is tied with Mahomes for most 20-plus yard completions in the league with 25. On top of that, Allen’s deep ball has been deadly this season with six completions of 40 yards or more, which is the most in the league. Pro Football Focus has him with a 97.1 grade on throws 20-plus yards, which is the best in the NFL. He also ranks as PFF’s highest graded offensive player thus far with a 90.8 grade. Many people might not realize this unless they’ve watched all the Bills games, but Allen has sat out two entire fourth quarters because they were blowing out the opposing team. Allen has done all of this in two less quarters of play than other quarterbacks. Josh Allen is currently the 2022 NFL MVP, and it really is not close right now.
