ESPN Insider Adam Schefter reports Cooper Kupp has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain and the prognosis “doesn’t look good.”
High-ankle sprains are a difficult injury to project. Players can race back to action in as little as two weeks, but typically the recovery timetable ranges from 4-8 weeks. It appears the Rams are expecting on the latter end of that timespan.
With the 3-6 Rams’ season in the gutter, it wouldn’t be surprising if the reigning Offensive Player of the Year was shut down to close things out. It’s an unimaginable blow for fantasy managers, as it’s simply impossible to replace Kupp’s production.
The Spin:
With Tyler Higbee (80% Owned) and Allen Robinson (61% Owned) virtually rostered everywhere, that leaves Ben Skowronek and Van Jefferson as the remaining pass catchers. Notably, Skowronek played 98% of snaps in the Rams Week 10 loss against the Cardinals. Jefferson, just three weeks removed from the injured reserve, scored his first TD of the season. With Kupps 10.9 targets per game up for grabs, both have flex upside and MUST BE added by Kupp owners. Jefferson is my prefered option.
