Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the Giants will meet with free agent Aaron Judge in San Francisco on Tuesday.
The American League MVP arrived in San Francisco on Monday night and will meet with the team at some point today. The Giants are expected to be one of the favorites in the sweepstakes for the superstar outfielder, along with the Dodgers and a return to the Yankees.
The 30-year-old slugger is eying down a eight-year deal worth more than $300 million after a historic season in which he he hit .311/.425/.686 with 62 homers, 133 runs scored, 131 RBI and 16 stolen bases.
General manager Brian Cashman confirmed last week that the Yankees have already offered Judge a new contract.
“I’m looking forward to getting the free-agent process going,’’ Judge said on Thursday after winning his first MVP award. “I don’t know how fast or slow it’s gonna go. There’s teams that we’ve talked to. For me, if we’re going to build a winning team, if I can get my stuff out of the way, it’s always an advantage. Once I get into it, it might move fast or slow. You never really know.”
According to bookies.com the Giants are the betting favorite to land the Northern California native. Let the games begin.
