The San Francisco Giants appear to be the frontrunner for shortstop Dansby Swanson, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
Swanson’s decision has not been made, but it seems the Giants are adamant about making a splash after missing out on the Aaron Judge sweepstakes.
The 2022 All-Star shortstop is arguably the hottest remaining name on the market. He has also received interest from the Cubs, Cardinals, Twins, Red Sox, and Dodgers over the last few weeks. Swanson likely will have his pickings of a destination, and the Giants seemingly make a ton of sense.
The Gold Glover is fresh off a brilliant season in which he hit .277 with 25 home runs, 96 RBI, 18 stolen bases, and 99 runs scored in a full 162 games. He rejected a one-year, $19.65 million qualifying offer from Atlanta last month, in hopes to secure a lucrative multi-year deal.
