Former Brown running back Peyton Hillis is in intensive care at a Florida hospital. The 36-year-old was injured after a swimming accident where he saved his kids from drowning.
Local reports out of Pensacola say Hillis is unconscious, but relatives say he’s improving. Peyton’s uncle, Greg, said the seven-year NFL veteran is “doing better” but still has a battle to endure. Details of the incident that sent Hillis to the hospital haven’t been made available.
Hillis’ kids are said to be safe and healthy, according to the report.
“I just wanted to let everyone know on Razorback Nation that Peyton is doing better,” he said in a Facebook post. “He’s still in intensive care and having some problems with his kidneys and his lungs but doctors say he is improving. I just wanted to head off any rumors that may be started. I’m sure he would want everyone to know that he appreciates all of the prayers being thrown up on his behalf!!!”
Hillis last played in the NFL with the Giants back in 2014. His rise to fame came with the Browns in the 2010 and 2011 seasons. The 2008 7th round draft pick was named to the cover of “Madden” after compiling 1,654 yards and 13 TD’s in the 2010 season.
