Josh Jacobs Speaks On Future With Raiders

Impending free agent RB Josh Jacobs said, “This is where I want to be,” when asked about his future with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Jacobs contract negotiations were a hot topic at the 2023 Pro Bowl, as he fielded a number of questions about his 2023 offseason plans. The 24-year-old is fresh off a breakout season leading the league in rushing (340-1653-12) and now appears poised for a Christian McCaffrey-esk payday.

Surprisingly, the Raiders have not discussed a contract extension with Jacobs yet. The lack of urgency hints that Las Vegas could be making cap room for an attempt at Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers. The Raiders currently have $19.8M in cap room, and must make sacrifices if they plan on making a run at the four-time MVP.

The former 1st round draft pick said he spoke with the Raiders staff at the end of the year about their plans at QB and said, “I know the three that they’re looking at.”

Later he was asked if one was already retired & he said he thought Brady was a “contingency plan”

While Jacobs was adamant on wanting to control contract discussions, the Raiders could also still franchise tag him for just over $10 million. At this point, it seems if the Oklahoma native does indeed stay in Vegas, the tag is the only logical option.

The running back also made headline among those who aren’t in favor of the NFL’s new Pro Bowl format. According to The Athletic, Jacobs said Saturday, “This s–t is stupid.”

For now? Stay tuned Raiders nation.
