The Arizona Cardinals announced Jonathan Gannon is officially their new head coach.
The announcement on Tuesday afternoon came shortly after multiple reports that the team was finalizing a deal with Gannon to succeed Kliff Kingsbury as their head coach.
The move comes just days after Gannon served as the Eagles’ defensive coordinator in their loss vs. the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII at the Cardinals’ home stadium in Glendale. The Cardinals interviewed him for the first time on Monday, and things moved quickly from there.
Gannon takes over an Arizona team that went from making the playoffs in 2021, down to a disappointing 4-13 record in 2022. The organization also recently hired Monti Ossenfort as new General Manager.
Gannon said in a statement: “I am super excited about the opportunity. I look forward to getting my hands on the players and putting a winning product on the field.”
