(New York, NY) – Former NFL running back Peyton Hillis, who spent part of his career with the New York Giants, now expects to make a full recovery.

The retired 37-year-old spent more than two weeks in the hospital after saving his two children from drowning off the coast of Pensacola, Florida. On social media, Hillis notes he was admitted to the ICU before being released on January 20th.

“I just wanted to come on here and thank everyone for all the prayers and love y’all have given me,” Hillis wrote. “It’s really made all the difference.”

Hillis, 37, said he’s elected to stay away from interviews because it was a “very traumatic time” and wanted to keep his family out of the public eye.

“I left the hospital with no worries and concerns and should make a 100% recovery. I’m a very lucky and blessed man,” Hillis wrote.

After starting his career with the Denver Broncos, Hillis reached the peak of his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns, and also spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs.
