(New York – NY) The Chargers reportedly have no plans of moving their top pass catcher. Speaking Wednesday, GM Tom Telesco told reporters, “Keenan Allen isn’t going anywhere.”

The marquee wide receiver has been a trendy name this offseason, but it appears the Bolts don’t plan on letting him out of site. The veteran pass catcher has a $21.7 million cap hit in 2023, which puts the Chargers in a difficult position cap-wise.

“He’s an incredible player,” Telesco told NFL Network of Allen. “We have an incredible quarterback. We need weapons around him. There’s never been any thought of that. He’s with us.”

Allen, 31, is fresh off an injury riddled season, in which he played just 10 games. Despite limited action, the 10-year veteran still was productive, catching 66 passes (80 targets), for 752 yards and four touchdowns.

While there has been speculation that the Chargers would part ways with him and potentially look to add a receiver in the draft,  the giant elephant in the room is Justin Herbert’s lack of production with Allen out of the lineup. In a perfect world, the Chargers would be able to retain Allen while adding a weapon in the draft.

Unfortunately, life’s not always rainbows and chocolates.

Regardless, the Chargers have a number of difficult decisions and contracts to restructure by March 15th. If Allen stays in Los Angeles, it will likely be on a reworked contract.

For now? Chargers fans will have to stay patient.
