(New York, NY) — Mychal Johnson, the girlfriend of Andrew Wiggins is speaking out.
The most salacious (and likely untrue) rumor that explains why the Warriors’s star forward has been away for “personal reasons” since mid-February is that Johnson cheated on him and that their two children aren’t even his. That would fall in line with the “real *expletive*” one anonymous Warrior said Wiggins is dealing with.
But Johnson is having none of it. In a message posted Thursday on Twitter, Mychal Johnson wrote “The internet is really a sick place” alongside a vomiting emoji.
Separately, she also wrote “The farthest thing from the truth. It’s sad y’all even doing this” and reposted a Tweet that read: “Don’t believe everything you read on social media!!!”
Wiggins and Johnson have been dating for nearly a decade after meeting in high school. The couple shares two young daughters.
It is likely that the public will never know what Wiggins is going through in the near future, if at all. But it seems that it has nothing to do with his girlfriend, as nothing else has come out about her during that time besides the isolated rumor.
Earlier this month, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said the “hope” is that Wiggins returns this season.
