(New York, NY) — A new WR for the Jets? Odell Beckham Jr could fill the role.
The Athletic’s Connor Hughes reports potential-next Jets QB Aaron Rodgers and Beckham have a close relationship, and have discussed the possibility of playing together at Metlife Stadium.
“Basically, Rodgers wants OBJ,” said Hughes.
The report is in line with previous speculation that Rodgers had a wishlist of players he wanted on the Jets, including the newly signed Allen Lazard and Beckham.
The Jets, of course, freed cap space by trading receiver Elijah Moore to the Browns and in turn signed Mecole Hardman.
If the Jets were to snag OBJ off the free market, the Jets’ receiver room would be crowded with Lazard, Garrett Wilson, and Corey Davis.
Considering the influx of talent that Gang Green would have, it is safe to assume Davis would be shipped out in a potential Aaron Rodgers deal.
Furthermore, the topic of money now comes into play for OBJ. He is nowhere near the 20 million-a-year talent he once was. However, a deal worth under 10 million dollars should suffice for the once top-tier receiver.
