(New York, NY) — Who knew a toe injury could be so painful? Just ask New Orleans Saints Receiver Michael Thomas.
Speaking Tuesday at the NFL’s Annual League Meetings, Saints head coach Dennis Allen said Thomas (toe) is not 100 percent.
“We’re going to be cautious with it and take our time, and we really don’t want to put him out there until he’s 100 percent,” Allen said of Thomas, who underwent toe surgery in November and in March.
Thomas and the Saints restructured his contract to keep him around in 2023 after he missed the final three months of the 2022 season with a dislocated toe. The sides agreed to a one-year, $10 million deal that could pay the three-time Pro Bowler up to $15 million, according to NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
“I expect him to be fully healthy and ready to go. When that point in time is, I don’t want to get into those speculations,” Allen added.
Thomas, 30, has been plagued by injuries the last three seasons, playing in ten games since the start of the 2020.
Overall, the pass catcher has played 73 games with the Saints, catching 526 passes for 6,121 yards and 35 touchdowns.
