(New York, NY) — You can add yet another name to the list of teams not interested in Lamar Jackson: the New England Patriots.

According to The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, the Patriots won’t be trading for Lamar Jackson this offseason. The report follows a small amount of speculation Monday after owner Robert Kraft said Jackson was interested in joining the team.

Howe says a league source completely dismissed any and all conversations regarding a Bill Belichick-Lamar Jackson pairing.  Howe went on to make an unrealistic suggestion, saying the Patriots could test how legit Jackson’s interest in the team really is by offering a contract far less than what Jackson desired, in addition to three-first rounders going to Baltimore.

The way this saga is shaping out, many teams in the NFL recognize that while Jackson is an All-Pro level talent, his price simply isn’t worth the hassle

That coupled with most teams either having their quarterback or being on the verge of having theirs through the draft, makes Jackson an undesirable player on the market.

The Patriots would have to make an unprecedented splash to make Jackson their starting QB, in addition to figuring out what to do with former first-round pick and current starter Mac Jones.

Jones remains the favorite to start under center for the Pats in 2023.
