(New York, NY) — The Jets have added a former Packers quarterback to their roster, but it’s not Aaron Rodgers.

The team agreed to a deal with veteran backup Tim Boyle, a source confirmed.

Boyle, formerly of the Chicago Bears, spent time in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers and current Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

With uncertainty around when a Rodgers trade will be completed, Boyle gives the Jets a warm body to take reps as the team enters their offseason program on April 17.

A lifetime backup with 106 career pass attempts, Boyle has thrown for 574 yards, three touchdowns, and eight interceptions in his four-year career.

His three starts came with the Lions in 2021. He lost all three games completing 64.9% of his passes with a 3:6 TD/INT ratio.

Boyle joins Zach Wilson and Chris Streveler as the only quarterbacks currently on the Jets roster.

His familiarity with Hackett’s offensive system will provide value throughout the offseason, but he’ll likely have to battle for a roster spot in training camp.

Head coach Robert Saleh emphatically stated last week that Wilson will be the No. 2 quarterback this year for Gang Green.

As for Aaron Rodgers? Still no news, as both parties seemingly remain in a stalemate.  Many NFL insiders have speculated the draft (three weeks away) as a deadline to get a deal done.
