(New York, NY) — Talk about a productive Monday.
The Philadelphia Eagles have announced they have signed QB Jalen Hurts to a five-year, $255 million contract extension.
The Eagles went on record early saying extending the 24-year-old was “priority,” and now they’ve locked up their superstart pass thrower for years to come. Hurts was heading into the fourth and final year of his rookie contract, and will now remain with the Eagles through 2028.
Injuries late in the season derailed an MVP caliber season in 2023, but Hurts went 14-1 as the starter, leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl in just his second full season as a starter.
The deal includes $179 million in guarantees, along with a no-trade clause. With $15 million in incentives, Hurts could “earn up to a record $54 million per year in new money” according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The deal was negotiated by Hurts’ agent, Nicole Lynn, and is believed to be the largest contract ever completed by a female agent.
A second-round pick (53rd overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft, Hurts has led Philly the to a 23-11 record in the regular season while throwing for 7906-44-12 and adding another 1,898 yards and 26 touchdowns on the ground.
The total guarantee of $179 million is the second-largest contract in NFL history behind only Deshaun Watson.
