(New York, NY) — Two key Yankees have been making progress towards their on-field return.

Luis Severino, who has been out since March with a lat strain, threw a two-inning bullpen session on Saturday.. He may end up facing hitters sometime this week and might only require a short minor league assignment for rehab.

Meanwhile, outfielder Harrison Bader went through an on-field workout at Yankee Stadium last Thursday. His workout involved him running the bases, taking batting practice, taking fly balls and ground balls and throwing to the bases.

His strained oblique has kept him out but soon enough he should start a minor-league rehab assignment. Manager Aaron Boone said Bader will have a relatively longer stint in the minors, though. There’s no reason to expect that he won’t be the club’s everyday center fielder when he’s fully healthy.

The 10-6 Yankees are off Monday before hosting Mike Trout and the Angels on Tuesday.
