(New York, NY) — It’s dumping season for the LA Rams, who seem more and more poised to enter a sort of rebuild. But they are by no means dumping trash: they’re dumping quality football players.

The now ex-Ram A’Shawn Robinson has inked a one-year, $8 million contract to join the New York Giants. Robinson should immediately step into a rotational role within defensive coordinator Wink Martindale’s hyper aggressive -3 hybrid defense and be a huge boon to the Giant’s interior D next season.

Regarded as a run-stuffer above all, the 28-year-old Robinson is a former second-round pick with seven career sacks 93 games, including 61 starts.

Robinson made a strong impression when he visited the team facility on March 20, but the finer points of a deal took a long time to be ironed out. He’ recovering from a torn meniscus that ended his 2022 season after 10 games for the Rams.

New York had the 27th-ranked run defense last season, allowing 144.2 yards per game. Robinson joins a defense that has welcomed a number of additions this offseason, including linebacker Bobby Okereke, cornerback Bobby McCain and defensive tackle Rakeem Nunez-Roches.

With Robinson being his latest get, Giants general manager Joe Schoen has put another stamp on this year’s FA with the NFL Draft on Thursday.
