NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars at Atlanta Falcons
(New York, NY) — Cam Robinson is reportedly in hot water with the NFL.
According to Jaguars beat reporter John Shipley, Jacksonville’s star left tackle won’t be playing to start the season. The duration of his suspension is unknown, but the cause is: violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy.
The NFL is awaiting results of Robinson’s B sample before deciding on the length of the potential suspension, a league source said. This would be the 27-year-old’s first offense, and he could be suspended for two, six or eight games depending on which prohibited substance was found.
Robinson signed a massive three-year, $54 million extension with the Jaguars last offseason, and appeared in 14 games this past year: he netted 27 pressures and four sacks. Robinson missed the final five games of the season due to a meniscus injury, but seemed on the road to a recovery in time for 2023.
Robinson has appeared in 75 games during his six-year career after being drafted No. 34 overall in 2017.
The Jaguars lost right tackle Jawaan Taylor to the Chiefs earlier this offseason, which could mean backup left tackle Walker Little will get the first crack at being Robinson’s replacement. Little started five games for the Jaguars last season with Robinson out, including two playoff games. He had 17 pressures and two sacks. Veteran swing tackle Josh Wells joined the Jags in free-agency and should be good to go and also get sizable playing time.
Even with some plugs for the hole, this loss will sting for Jacksonville, however long it ends up being.
