(New York, NY) — Derek Carr made headlines this offseason as a top-market free agent quarterback, signing a 4-year, $150 million deal with New Orleans.

His former head coach, Jon Gruden, ended his second stint with the silver and black on an infamous note after his name was closely associated with an investigation made on Dan Snyder.

Gruden and Carr reunited last week when Gruden attended a number of Saints practices, including some offensive and quarterback meetings. Most of Carr’s success came when Gruden joined him in 2018, and Saints head coach Dennis Allen thinks there is a lot to learn from picking the coach’s brain.

“We felt like bringing him in, having a chance to sit down and visit with him as an offensive staff, with the quarterbacks and just getting some new thoughts and ideas of things we might be able to implement,” said Allen.

Both rookie quarterback Jake Haener and projected backup Jameis Winston had similar praise for Gruden. Winston believes him to be “one of the greatest minds in NFL history” and was eager to take in all the information from the veteran coach.

Any future for Gruden with the Saints is still unknown and Allen made sure to note that the offensive scheme won’t see much change, but believes Gruden’s influence could help the improvement of the team.
