(New York, NY) — Tyler Herro has been ruled out for Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
A triumph Game 3 return storyline proved to be nothing but a pipe dream as Erik Spoelstra told reporters that Herro (fractured right hand) has not been cleared yet for a return.
“I don’t want to be Nostradamus right now,” Spoelstra said after Tuesday’s practice. “We’re taking it one day at a time. And I know that sounds like a cliché.”
Spoelstra added that the team will put him through a contact workout to see where he’s at in his recovery process.
“He did the practice with the group. He is going to do a full-contact workout after this. We’ll evaluate that. We’ll meet with the training staff later on today and probably [Wednesday], and we’ll just continue this process.”
There was speculation that Herro could return for either Game 2 or 3, but he’s experienced soreness and swelling in his surgically repaired hand that delayed has ultimately delayed his timeline.
Game 3 is back in Miami on Wednesday night.
