(New York, NY) — There is some good injury news for the Mets.
José Quintana is set to begin his minor league rehab on Tuesday with Single-A St. Lucie. It’ll be an extended stay for a few weeks before he comes back to New York’s lineup.
The southpaw is still working his way back after undergoing a bone graft surgery on his ribs back in March, but it appears he’ll have the time to regain his health.
He got the “green light” to throw weeks ago, but now he’ll be able to get back on the field.
Meanwhile Pete Alonso fielded grounders at Citi Field ahead of Tuesday’s Subway Series opener against the Yankees. He’s still expected to miss at least 3-4 weeks with a left wrist sprain and bone bruise after taking a laser to it against Atlanta.
There’s a chance he’s back before the end of June, but even if he’s not, its a good sign he’s recovering.
