(San Francisco, CA) — NBA superstar Chris Paul is heading to the Golden State Warriors.
The Athletic reports the Washington Wizards are sending the point guard to the Warriors in exchange for Jordan Poole and two future draft picks.
While nobody expected Paul to be in Washington very long after the Bradley Beal trade last week, this move comes as a stunner.
The expectation around the league was that CP3 would ultimately land with the Lakers or Clippers due to their needs for a point guard.
While there are injury concerns, adding a Hall of Fame talent to the mix will help the Warriors in their quest to win a fifth NBA championship in eight years.
Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reports the Wizards tried to land Golden State’s first-round pick in tonight’s draft, No. 19 overall, but the Warriors were able to keep it.
It’s a rapid fall for Poole, who infamously was punched in the face by Draymond Green during a Warriors preseason practice last year.
The Dubs seemingly never recovered and now forward with CP3, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
