Former Mets Catcher Signs With Long Island Ducks

(Long Island, NY) — Another former New York Met joined the Atlantic baseball league.

Catcher Wilson Ramos is signing with the Long Island Ducks.

Ramos had previously been with Acereros de Monclova in the Mexican league with hopes of breaking back into the MLB. The catcher was last seen in the majors in 2021. The 35-year-old played for seven major league teams across an 11-year career, including a two year stint with the Mets from starting in 2019.  Ramos slugged 18 homerun’s and 83 RBI’s across 186 games.

The 35-year-old former two-time All-Star last played in the majors in 2021, when he struggled to a .205/.248/.397 batting line in 44 games (163 plate appearances) between Detroit and Cleveland.

The native of Venezuela is a lifetime .271 hitter with 136 homers and 534 RBI.

The Long Island Ducks has been a popular destination for players with Major League aspirations.

Former Mets star Daniel Murphy was recently signed by the Los Angeles Angels after a stint with Long Island.

Ramos joins a Ducks lineup with several former major leaguers, including Ruben Tejada, who played for the Mets from 2010-2015.
