(San Francisco, California) — What is former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick up to nowadays?
According to Sports Illustrated’s Gilberto Manzano, Kaepernick still trains 5-6 days a week in hopes of landing another workout from an NFL team.
“I’m going to keep fighting for it because I know I can step on the field and play,” Kaepernick said back in May. “Every workout, every opportunity I’ve had to show that, the feedback has always been positive. Everything from, “He’s still an elite player,” to “The workout was great; it was better than expected.”
The quarterback’s latest trial was with the Las Vegas Raiders back in May of 2022. It marked his first workout with an NFL team since being exiled.
“I believe in Colin Kaepernick,” said Raiders team owner Mark Davis. “He deserves every chance in the world to become a quarterback in the National Football League. I still stand by it. If our coaches and general manager want to bring him in or want him to be the quarterback on this team, I would welcome him with open arms.”
The 35-year-old went unsigned as the organization decided to go in a different direction provoking some choice words that have recently surfaced.
“You just compare résumés and capabilities, on top of the workout and the feedback, it’s like, O.K., cool.” Kaepernick said when addressing the Raiders quarterback room “Obviously, there’s something else within this decision. To me, that’s typically what it ends up being, or has been for the last seven years.”
The controversial quarterback remains committed to not giving up on his dream to return to the NFL.
It’s hard to imagine him Kap ever stepping foot on an NFL field again – for obvious reason.
