NFL: Buffalo Bills at Arizona Cardinals
(Buffalo, NY) — DeAndre Hopkins to the…Bills?
Buffalo is a potential destination for the free agent, if the price is right, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington.
Hopkins also visited the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots but does not appear to be in a rush to make a decision.
“My understanding with the Bills is like, yeah, they love DeAndre Hopkins, he’d be a great addition, but they’re not gonna pay him,” Darlington said on The Rich Eisen Show.
Money is the root of all evil for Buffalo here as it doesn’t appear to have the cap space to acquire Hopkins, but would obviously welcome him onto the roster.
Darlington also mentioned that Hopkins may have priced himself out of a place like Buffalo. Fans can only assume the same holds true for a place like Kansas City.
The superstar wide receivers reported asking price of around $15 million would match Odell Beckham Jr.’s deal with the Baltimore Ravens.
Per OverTheCap.com, the Bills have just shy of $5.5 million in cap space, compared to $8.3 million for the Titans and $17.7 million for the Patriots – making it difficult for Buffalo to compete financially.
For now? New England and Tennessee appear to be the clear front-runners in sweepstakes, with both teams in need of a true WR1.
