(Athens, GA) — Welcome to the league, rook!
A woman who survived the crash that killed a former Georgia football player and a recruiting analyst is suing Philadelphia Eagles rookie Jalen Carter.
The Eagles first-round pick settled criminal charges related to the crash that killed two people in January, but is now being sued by Victor Bowles.
Devon Willock and Chandler LeCroy were killed in a high-speed crash in Athens back in January while reportedly racing after Georgia defeated TCU in the National Championship.
Bowles, a former football analyst, was in the backseat with Willcock at the time of the crash.
The lawsuit claims that Carter, fully aware of his responsibility in the wreck, failed to remain at the scene, and avoided questioning according to reports from Mark Schlabach of ESPN.com.
“As Defendant Carter was aware at the time, he was jointly responsible for the crash, and had a legal duty to remain on the scene. Instead, in part obviously fearful of bad publicity and the effect on his NFL draft status, he hoped not to be questioned or take any responsibility for his actions.”
According to Bowles’ attorneys, she suffered more than $170,000 in medical expenses and suffered “likely permanent disability.”
Carter, who significantly dropped in the NFL draft because of the allegations, apparently still is in hot water.
