(Florham Park, NJ) – As long as Aaron Rodgers can stay healthy, the New York Jets will remain in the playoffs mix during the 2023-2024 NFL season.

No other player on the roster is “irreplaceable” or “unsurvivable” in terms of a potential loss to injury. But it’s fair to say Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner comes pretty close – in terms of his impact on Gang Green’s defense.

So, it’s less than encouraging that he’s dealing with something here early in camp.

Gardner suffered a quad injury and will not participate Wednesday on the first day of joint practices, according to Zack Rosenblatt of the Athletic. Carl Lawson is also among the injured players that will be sidelined as he returns from a back injury.

It’s unclear when the Sauce suffered the injury after participating fully through Tuesday’s practice, but it is not considered to be serious according to Jets head coach Robert Saleh.

It’s a downer for Gardner and his fans after his new teammate Rodgers declared “Sauce” will eventually be a Hall of Famer – during the first episode of HBO’s Hard Knocks.

While the Jets are likely being extra precautious, it’s worth monitoring.

In positive injury news, wide receiver Garrett Wilson will return on Wednesday (limited) after tweaking his ankle two weeks ago during a practice.
