(Washington) — The Washington Commanders may be without their top pass catcher for week 1.
ESPN Adam Schefter reports Terry McLaurin (toe) is “uncertain for the regular-season opener” against the Cardinals.
Schefter states a sprained toe is “typically a multiple-week absence.” By the time Week 1 rolls around, McLaurin will have been 19 days removed from his injury, which makes him truly questionable for the season opener.
“We’ll continue to just monitor that, continue the rehab and the treatments and stuff,” head coach Ron Rivera said Wednesday. “We’re going to keep him off his feet for a couple more days and then start getting him ready once we get into next week.”
McLaurin suffered the injury in a meaningless preseason win over the Ravens on Monday. An MRI exam on Tuesday did not show any structural injury, providing optimism he could suit up against the Cardinals.
If McLaurin is unable to go, Jahan Dotson would figure to be the biggest beneficiary.
