NEW YORK — In a Wednesday press conference, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick had some positive words to say about New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson.
It wasn’t a lot, however.
“Pretty athletic quarterback. We’ve seen him before,” Belichick said.

Touching. Coach isn’t necessary wrong though.
Wilson is relatively athletic and the Patriots have seen him before.
In four games against New England, Wilson has thrown two touchdowns, seven interceptions, and has been sacked 11 times. His completion percentage against the Patriots is just 50.9%, and his quarterback rating is 50.6.
Wilson’s worst performance against the Patriots came last year in a game where he completed only 9 of 22 passes for 77 yards.

So what do you really want Belichick to say?
The Patriots coach did deflect questions about Aaron Rodgers and if he wished he had the chance to scheme against him, instead saying he is worried about “who is out there.”
Belichick remained focused on the challenges posed by the Jets’ return man Xavier Gipson, their disruptive defense, and the punting skills of Thomas Morstead.

Again, touching stuff.
The two AFC East rivals meet for their first matchup of the season on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, where the Patriots will attempt to extend their 14-game winning streak against the Jets.
Wide receiver Garrett Wilson said it is time for the Jets to get back in the win column.
“I inherited — I walked into a team that, we haven’t beaten the Patriots,” Wilson said on ESPN Radio New York. “I feel like that’s why they brought me here, brought me and Sauce (Gardner) here and the guys here — to make things like that change. It’s time we do what we get paid for.”
