(Florham Park, NJ) – As the New York Jets offense continues to sputter, the word is that Gang Green’s players are getting frustrated – perhaps especially members of the defense.
According to ESPN’s Jets insider Rich Cimini, the main source of that unhappiness is Zach Wilson, and his continued role as starting QB. Cimini went so far as to say that Jets head coach Robert Saleh is “coming off as a Zach apologist, and that doesn’t play well in the locker room.”
Wilson’s struggles have been exacerbated by the team’s heightened expectations entering the season, in which the since-injured Aaron Rodgers was supposed to lead the Jets to glory. And per Cimini, the team’s strong defensive unit is particularly annoyed by Wilson’s lack of production – leading to tension within the locker room.
Veteran free agent Trevor Siemian was inked to a contract this week, but that’s not expected to change the Jets’ fortunes much at the QB position.
So with the Jets locker room threatening to unravel, and Wilson’s play showing no signs of improvement, Saleh and Jets GM Joe Douglas have some decisions to make.
Will Siemian be an upgrade? Is there a chance to somehow trade for an upgrade, like Kirk Cousins – whose Vikings are 0-3? All of these questions demand answers, and things are getting late early for these Jets.
