(Florham Park, NJ) – Breece Hall wants to make it clear: he’s looking to reclaim his status as “beast.”

Apparently, that’s a nickname that has been bestowed upon him since the 7th grade – and with good reason. The 225-pound New York Jets running back has been effective at the college and NFL level when healthy – as evidenced most recently by his 22 carry, 177-yard, 1 TD performance in Gang Green’s week 5 win over Denver.

That stat line was aided by Hall’s 72-yard TD scamper early on in the third quarter. Former Giants RB Tiki Barber was providing color commentary for the game on CBS Sports and said, “Hall surprised the safety with his speed and his burst. He’s not a 4.4 guy but he is deceptively fast for a 225-pounder.”

After the game, Hall was made aware of that analysis and said on X (formerly Twitter): “Somebody tell Tiki I ran a 4.39 btw [by the way],” adding some laughing emojis for good measure. And speaking to reporters from the locker room, Hall was excited to reclaims his Breece the Beast nickname – telling the assembled press he’d been known as such since middle school. “People been trying to say I’m not fast no more,” Hall said. “I’m like, ‘I just need some space.’”

Told that Next Gen Stats had clocked him at 21.5 miles per hour during his long TD run, Hall credited his healthy recovery from offseason knee surgery: “I’m new and improved now … I got my robot knee so I’m good.”
