PHILADELPHIA — Are the Philadelphia Eagles in trouble?
Philadelphia’s 10-1 start seems all but a distant memory. Sunday’s Week 17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals presented a new season low, Dropping the Birds to an 11-5 record, while falling out of the top spot in the NFC East.
But who’s to blame?
NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger weighed in on the teams’ recent struggles and didn’t hold back on pointing the blame on defensive tackle Jordan Davis.
“Jordan Davis is out of shape,” Baldinger said Tuesday on the PHLY Philadelphia Eagles podcast. “I don’t know what they fine him every week, but I gotta believe he’s getting money taken from him, he’s overweight and it shows.”
Davis, selected 13th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, has 2.5 sacks, 16 solo tackles and one forced fumble in his second season.
“He’s not pursuing the football, he’s nothing in the pass rush, so that’s one.” Baldinger expressed “If he’s going to play with that effort and be overweight like that, then you say, ‘OK, they’re a man short in the rotation.
“I’m not sure why he keeps dressing, he’s been ineffective. When the plays are going on, he’s basically walking on the field. It’s bad effort.”
Philadelphia finishes the season on the road against the New York Giants. A win coupled with a Dallas loss to Washington remains their last hope of securing a division title.
