NEW YORK — Gary Sanchez is getting another chance to revitalize his career.

The former Yankees and Mets catcher reached an agreement with the Brewers on Wednesday. The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reported it’s an one-year, $7 million contract with a mutual option for 2025.

The 31-year-old bounced back in 2023 hitting 19 homers in just 72 games with the Padres during the 2023 campaign, but a wrist fracture cut his season short.

The Brewers are hopeful that he’ll be able to provide similar pop serving in a reserve role behind starter William Contreras. Sanchez is also expected to be a part-time designated hitter in Milwaukee, competing for at bats with left-handed-hitting Jake Bauers, who was acquired in an offseason trade with the Yankees. Bauers, who was projected to enter the season as the Brewers’ primary DH, may end up platooning with Sanchez.

The 31-year-old spent the first seven years of his career in The Bronx with the Yankees after making his major league debut in 2015. He got off to a red hot start finishing the 2016 season in second place in AL Rookie of the Year voting after hitting 20 home runs in 53 games.

But he quickly flamed and eventually was traded in spring of 2022 to the Twins in a deal that sent Gio Urshela to Minnesota for Josh Donaldson, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Ben Rortvedt. For now, Sanchez will seek similar results to a 2023 campaign that just inked him a $7 million deal and another chance to revitalize his career.
