NFL: AFC Divisional Round-Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills
(New York, NY) – With an elusive third Super Bowl title in reach, QB Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid are on the cusp of NFL immortality. That’s the decree from the “Sports Pope” Mike Francesa.
While he may no longer be ruling the airwaves on New York sports radio, he joined fellow longtime sports talker Sid Rosenberg on 77 WABC’s Sid and Friends in the Morning program Thursday. “Three is immortality. As a coach, it puts you on the highest level. As a quarterback, it puts you on the highest level, Francesa said.
Asked by Rosenberg how he feels about the spread (KC +2) Francesa indicated he was surprised to see San Francisco favored, indicating he expects Kansas City to win: “(They) have the better defense. Kansas City has the better quarterback, and they have by a wide margin the better kicker.” It’s interesting that Francesa would note San Francisco’s kicking woes with Jake Moody. In a game Las Vegas has pegged as a FG game, a missed kick or two could make a huge difference.
Francesa made it clear he doesn’t think San Francisco will be able to run on Kansas City, neutralizing Christian McCaffery. “You’re asking San Francisco’s offense to dominate the fame, or else you have to like KC in this game. They’re better in every other area.”
While it’s clear the ex-radio host likes in Kansas City in the big game, Francesa did add that he think’s the game will come down to the wire. Luckily the wait is almost over and all questions will be answered shortly.
